Devotional guide for the week of Oct 30th

 1.     Read Joshua 24:14-18, 25-26. What is the heart of the covenant established between God and the people of Israel?

 2.     One of the things we learn about God from scripture is God likes to make covenants with people. Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Joshua, David, Jeremiah—all of them made covenants with God or spoke of the covenant. Jesus instituted a new covenant through the Lord’s Supper. At this age and stage in life, what covenant, what vow would you make with God?

 3.     The history of Old Testament is a history of the dynamic of the people unable to keep the covenant with God. For hundreds of years there was invasion after invasion—the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Persians. How is the new covenant different than the old?
