The Week of May 22nd, 2022
1. What were the good old days for you, and what made them so good?
2. One month into the journey from slavery in Egypt to freedom and the Promised Land, the Israelites want to return to the “flesh pots” (stew) of Egypt. Just as worse, they play the victim and believe their leader’s intention is to kill them all. When have you started out on a journey or course of action and when things got tough, were tempted to turn back? What lesson did you learn from the experience?
3. The Loyal Soldier: we develop certain childhood strategies that help us survive the traumas and tribulations of growing up. The problem comes when we are adults, but still use the childhood strategies. One of those strategies is called “The Loyal Soldier.” The Loyal Soldier’s job is to keep us safe by keeping us small. Read the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15. Do you notice anything about you in the elder brother?
