Staff and Leadership

Scott Phillips, PastorScott Phillips, Pastor

Scott was born and raised in the small town of Minden, Nebraska, before earning a Bachelor's degree in English Education at Sterling College, a Master's degree in 20th Century British and American Literature at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Master's of Divinity from Dubuque Theological Seminary. Scott was called to serve Westview in November 2011, in his sixth year in ordained ministry. He loves the variety and breadth of ministry, preaching, teaching, connecting in personal visits, and serving "hands-on" in mission projects. Scott was drawn to Westview because of their shared passion for mission and their heart for seeking Christ through study and care. Scott also loves spending time with his family (trying to keep up with his wife, Julie, and son, Joshua), keeping up with the Chicago Cubs, and making trips up into the mountains.

Heather McIntyre, Office ManagerHeather McIntyre, Office Manager

Heather is a Longmont native and enjoys living so close to the mountains. Though she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, contributing to her ability to multi-task and be organized, it is the intangibles that cannot be taught that really qualify her for her position. Her cheerful smile and friendly greeting for everyone entering the church office are a tremendous asset. Those in need are encouraged and comforted by her caring and compassionate nature. Her willingness to “go the extra mile” ensures that the work gets done.

Tom Riis, Choir Director

Tom Riis grew up outside of Binghamton, New York, earned music degrees from Oberlin College (Ohio) and the University of Michigan (1976, 1981), and came to Colorado in 1992 to direct CU Boulder’s American Music Research Center and to teach music history (a.k.a. musicology) at the University.  At an earlier teaching post at the University of Georgia (1981-1992) he conducted the Early Music Collegium, sang in the Athens Master Chorale, and co-founded a small English Renaissance choir called Voix Forts Claire.  He has sung, taught, and occasionally conducted music in Europe, mostly in Germany, between 1997 and 2015.  Having played the cello and sung in church since the age of 10, Tom is happy to be joining the Westview music team.

elle_tyler2Elle Tyler, Pianist

Elle Tyler moved from the Midwest to Boulder in 2011 to pursue her Master's degree in piano performance and pedagogy. She graduated in 2013, and is now a piano and early childhood music teacher in the Boulder/Erie areas.  She and her band-teacher-husband Ben love playing music of all styles and using their gifts to glorify the Lord!
